Honestly, just wow 🤯 Stumbling upon Cafe Gabriel while looking for a quick break was the absolute highlight of our day in Ubud. It is NOT located in some hyper-popular tourist strip, which makes finding a legitimate French restaurant this good feel like an absolute triumph. Truly next level. First off, the decor is on point and looks phenomenal. Everything feels brand new, stylish, and incredibly clean — the kind of setting where you just feel relaxed immediately. And the service? Spot on. The servers are dressed in a sharp, high-end French style, giving the place an air of elegance that you rarely find, yet the whole vibe remains welcoming, not stuffy. Now, let's talk about the food, because it is absolutely wow, wow, WOW 🏆. My wife and I came in for a quick break but ended up having a serious meal. We ordered a Croque-Monsieur (which was perfectly toasted and insanely rich) and the Pan-Seared Tenderloin. We requested the steak cook level precisely, and they nailed it — incredibly fresh and flavorful. We naturally couldn’t skip dessert and the Chocolate Crape Cake was a masterful, light, and filling finish. This food is genuinely TOP level. When you see a place this new-looking that already has a reputation for "excellent food and pastries," "French onion soup," "Paris-Brest," and even "escargot" with in-house sourdough (which we need to try next time!), you know they are doing it right 🥐✨. If you are in the Ubud area, especially near Kecamatan, this is a **must-visit**. Highly recommend! 🙏🏼
View on GoogleI discovered this cute Cafe on Google Maps and was SOOOOO happy I did! 🥹 The French onion soup and hanger steak hit the spot just right. The staff are friendly and helpful, and even stopped me from ordering too much (lol!). Getting the chocolate coins 🪙 on the house at the end was chef's kiss. Merci beaucoup, Café Gabriel.
View on GoogleStaff were amazing and welcoming! Food was too good I have attached the photos you can see for yourself! If I knew before I would have done breakfast here on a daily basis. They have halal options available as well.
View on GoogleThis is as close to a genuine french cafe ss you get. Looks and feels brand new with genuine french decor and waiters with black aprons, crisp clean white shirts and cute black bow ties. One of the really nice features about this cafe is the cool AC. And most importantly, they have some of the best coffee in Ubud (no exaggeration). They also have their own small bakery at the rear so the bread and croissants are always fresh, unlike in many cafes. It's located on a main road, but you can't hear the traffic once you're inside. It's also worth noting that it has the nicest small bathroom I've ever come across in Ubud, apart from those at the large resorts. Cafe Gabriel is well worth the side trip since it's really only about 8 - 10 minutes from the town center.
View on GoogleA lovely spot to dine or take some coffee break; very calm and quiet. The onion soup was delicious. The quiche was okay, but nothing to write home about. The staff is amazing, offering wonderful service. The cafe is tiny but clean, cozy, and full of charm.
