My first time trying chicken betutu and I loved it! The chicken is flavorful, aromatic, and so tender. The spices are quite unique. Must try if you’re into spicy food! It’s very spicy though, I have good tolerance for spicy and I left the table all crying and sniffing, but it was very much worth it! Chicken Betutu is slow cooked, so the chicken comes out very soft and juicy. For foreigners, I recommend you get at least 1/2 a chicken because the chicken is fairly small similar to wild chicken.

I’ve been their loyal customer for years and the taste has always been the same since I first tasted Ayam Betutu Gilimanuk at another outlet back in 2014. I love love love their authentic Balinese spices and here are the pictures I’ve taken throughout the year at this particular outlet 😍🥰

they have many outlets, selling ayam betutu. this one is located near ubud, just across the street with adequate parking space. their ayam betutu is good. it's still hot when they serve it. i just think that the chicken doesn't have enough meat. for some reasons, i like the taste of their jakarta outlets better. ayam betutu comes with sliced shallots, fried peanuts, and plecing kangkung which is steamed kangkong with chili sambal on top. you need to order the rice. it doesn't come with rice. their sate lilit uses ground chicken and skewered it with the stick. they have enough dining areas, some are outdoors. they only accept cash. the price shown in the menu is before the tax.

WOW, absolutely amazing!!! The betutu duck ( a Balinese specialty dish) was so tender and flavorful, and everything else was delicious too. Also the bapak is super friendly and kind, and took some time to share about Balinese culture with us before our meal. 100% recommend, do yourself a favor and don't miss this gem in Ubud 🔥🔥🔥!

Due to the weather its quite hot here. But the Ayam Betutu steam type very delicious, if you got Thai, Indian or exotic spice taste bud you will like the food here. Its quite relaxing and peaceful here. If you couldn't take chilli or spicy food there is other variety of less spicy food but wasn't their signature dish.
