If you are looking to escape the typical tourist traps in Ubud and dive into something genuinely local, Suka Kopi Restaurant is a must-visit. The setting alone is worth the trip. The restaurant is housed inside an authentic Balinese home, featuring a stunning central courtyard and even a private family temple. It feels less like a commercial dining space and more like you've been invited into someone's beautiful, serene estate. What instantly reassures you about the food is the crowd—it’s packed with locals, which is always the ultimate green flag for authenticity and value. The Babi (pork) and Ayam (chicken) noodles are absolute standouts. They are packed with flavor, perfectly cooked, and capture the true essence of local comfort food. The prices are incredibly reasonable, especially for Ubud, making it a fantastic budget-friendly option without sacrificing quality on the savory side. The desserts is where the experience stumbles slightly. If you have a sweet tooth, you'll want to choose wisely. Skip the Oreo and mango cakes. Unfortunately, they tasted quite old and stale, likely sitting in the display for a bit too long. Do order the fried banana with Nutella. It was absolutely delicious, fresh, and the perfect way to redeem the sweet course. The Suka Kopi offers a gorgeous, culturally rich atmosphere and fantastic local savory dishes at prices that won't break the bank. Just skip the baked goods and stick to the fried bananas for dessert, and you are guaranteed a wonderful meal. Go for the noodles, stay for the architecture, and stick to the hot desserts!
View on GoogleI am extremely disappointed with my experience today. My friends and I came to enjoy breakfast, as we have done few times before. The cafe itself is beautiful, and the food and drinks have always been enjoyable. Unfortunately, this visit completely ruined our morning. We were seated on the outdoor terrace, where there is a partial view of the semi-open kitchen. While waiting for our breakfast to be prepared, we noticed one of the kitchen staff repeatedly looking in our direction and then laughing with a colleague. This happened several times, making us feel increasingly uncomfortable. Whether they were talking about us or not, the behavior was highly unprofessional and completely inappropriate in a hospitality setting. As paying customers, we expect to be treated with respect, not to feel like we are being watched and laughed at while trying to enjoy our breakfast. The repeated glances followed by laughter created an atmosphere that was awkward, disrespectful, and completely unacceptable. A restaurant can serve excellent food and coffee, but that means very little when staff behavior makes guests feel uncomfortable and disrespected. No customer should leave feeling this way after simply coming in to enjoy breakfast. Management should seriously address this issue with their team. Customers should never leave a restaurant feeling embarrassed, judged, or uncomfortable because of the behavior of the staff. Sadly, what should have been a pleasant breakfast turned into one of the most uncomfortable dining experiences I have had. I expected much better.
View on GoogleFantastic spot in Ubud – this place absolutely delivered. Stopped in for lunch and coffee and was really impressed. The chicken katsu sando was excellent: crispy, juicy chicken with fresh slaw and plenty of flavour, served on soft bread with a generous portion of thick-cut fries on the side. Everything was well presented and tasted great. The coffee was also spot on – smooth, well balanced, and nicely made (both the iced coffee and latte were very good). A perfect pairing with the meal. Loved the open, leafy outlook and relaxed vibe overlooking the street – a great place to sit back and watch Ubud go by. Service was friendly and efficient, and the menu has a solid range for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Would happily return and definitely recommend if you’re in the area looking for good food and quality coffee in a relaxed setting. ☕️🍽️
View on GoogleThe flat white was good, and the brownie was decent. The reason this is a one star review is the service. I opened my laptop to fill in a from for my application and within 45 minutes I was informed 4!! times that the laptop use is limited to 90 minutes. The first 3 times I reassured that I only want to spend an hour here. The 4th time I just asked for the bill and left. I continued in the cafe few steps away. What was surprising was that the place was virtually empty with only two tables occupied on the first floor and one occupied in the downstairs sitting area. I cafe hop, and just before I was at the onion co - I actually checked time stamps (for my bill payment at onion co) to see how long I have been in the cafe.
View on GoogleThe place is spacious with a very homey vibe since it’s set inside a house (balinese traditional layout house) super cozy for a relaxed meal or hangout. Considering it’s in a tourist area like Ubud, the food prices are very reasonable, with generous portions and great taste. The melon juice tasted a bit off and didn’t feel fresh, the quality of the fruit could be improved. The portion of the French fries could also be slightly bigger. Overall, it’s a pleasant dining spot and definitely worth a visit!
