Absolutely enjoyed my visit and talk with made as he showed me his shop and all the different crafted chess sets. Are they cheap? Not compared to mass produced tourist versions, no. But compared to what you get, yes, a very fair price. I came here for a quality handmade chess set, something I’ve wanted since I was a boy. When you see the shop you understand what goes into their creation, for example the black and white squares are inlaid different types of timber then sanded perfectly flat and beautifully varnished. Many different sizes and styles, and several types of wood and quality of detail depending on your budget and what you’re looking for. I bought a very beautiful set. Happy customer

The amount of passion he has for his craft is truly impressive. I bought a set for myself and my father in-law and I cannot recommend this store enough. Save your time looking at the touristy areas for chess sets and just make a voyage to this store. Three generations have worked here and his grandfather's set is still on display at the store. The craftsmanship on the pieces is truly amazing and I recommend getting one of the Balinese sets. After purchase, he showed me his workshop and how he made the boards and you will not get that from any other store. Can't recommend this place enough!

Beautiful handcrafted sets. They cater for different budgets with more finely detailed sets costing more. We purchased two sets of pieces; a classic international set, as well as a handcrafted Balinese set. Really pleased & worth the pilgrimage to the store.

This is a real craftsman that makes these sets at home with a small team of People. He really knows which Woods to use and which finishes to use. It is way better quality than the souvernir ones you can buy around ubud. The prices are fair keeping in mind the pieces are made by hand. Also, you can buy different styles, different qualities and different sizes. 10 out of 10, would I recommend this place for a serious chess set.
