If you’re looking for a polished, touristy restaurant, this isn’t it. If you’re looking for some of the most authentic Balinese babi guling you’ll find, you’ve come to the right place. The crackling was gloriously crisp, the pork was tender and full of flavour, and the satay was smoky and delicious. The soup on the side was a welcome bonus, and everything tasted freshly prepared rather than mass-produced. The setting is simple and unpretentious, with friendly service that makes you feel welcome. Come hungry, order the traditional babi guling plate and enjoy a proper local experience. I was even given a satay at the end because the owner thought I might write a good review.

⭐ 5/5 – An Absolute Hidden Gem in Bali! If you want an authentic Balinese culinary experience away from the usual tourist traps, do not miss Babi Guling Ibu Gendut in Ubud. This local warung is a true hidden gem that offers incredible hospitality and mouthwatering delicacies. The owners are exceptionally kind and welcoming, even surprising us with a complimentary bowl of soup! 🍽️ What We Ordered - Babi Guling Hotplate: As Filipinos who love Lechon, we were amazed to find a different yet incredibly special Balinese version of our favorite dish. The skin is perfectly crispy, and the meat is deeply flavorful, especially when paired with their special house sauce. - Satay: Perfectly grilled, tender, and bursting with local spices. - Kuah Balung (Free Soup): Served piping hot, this rich and flavorful bone soup instantly gives a comforting warmth to a hungry stomach. - Watermelon Juice: A sweet, refreshing drink that is highly affordable and provides excellent value for money. Vibe: Casual, authentic, and quiet roadside dining. Parking: There is a free parking lot right in front, which is very convenient for motorbikes.

Love, love, love. Special plate babi guling. The works on a plate. Yummy pork. The skin was snappy, crunchy, cracking good. We had to order 2 big plates. Chilli with local belacan/anchovy was the icing on the cake and topped off the needed kick for the dish.

It is quite a walk from the center of town. It looks small from the outside, but has a large courtyard inside with plenty of seating and a very pleasant breeze in the shaded seating. It was a great place to escape the midday heat. The menu is quite basic and firmly centered on their speciality of Babi Guling. They have some 200k plates that feel as though they are aimed at tourists, but also have much more reasonable selections on a separate menu. It was our first time to eat Babi Guling, so we didn’t know what to expect. Perhaps it just isn’t for me. Even so, the food was well-cooked and presented, and service was quick and friendly.

This is the first time we try babi Guling in Ubud and have to say that it's so good. The skin is crispy and meat is juicy. They serve quite fast. It's not a luxury restaurant, the place is very simple and peaceful. The owners are very nice.
