Kubu at Mandapa delivered one of the most memorable dining experiences we’ve had. The food was absolutely spectacular - surprising, creative, and beautifully executed. Every course brought something unexpected and exciting, and the whole experience felt thoughtfully put together from start to finish. You could really tell how much care and passion went into every dish. The restaurant itself is exceptional, and what made the evening truly unforgettable was the people behind the experience. A special thank you to Nesri, who took such incredible care of us throughout the evening. She was wonderfully kind, generous, and had such a genuine warmth about her. She added so much heart to an already incredible evening.

Dining at Kubu at Mandapa was one of the true highlights of my trip. The setting itself—inside a private cocoon by the river—is already a fantastic and memorable experience. However, what impressed me even more was the quality of the cuisine. The chef not only showcases local ingredients, but elevates them with refined technique and thoughtful composition. One of the most impressive dishes for me was the Payangan beans. The ingredients were clearly seasonal and handled with great care. The dish offered a beautiful balance of flavors—sourness, sweetness, bitterness, savoriness, and umami—along with a delightful contrast of textures, from crunchiness to smoothness. It was one of those rare moments where I couldn’t help but say “wow” after the first bite. Another pleasant surprise was the Reserve wine pairing. In a country where wine prices can often be quite high, the pairing here was not only well-curated and precise, but also reasonably priced, which added great value to the overall experience. This is a kitchen with both technical strength and a clear sense of direction. I truly believe the chef will continue to shine in the years to come.

As a solo female traveler, visiting a romantic restaurant or enjoying fine dining alone can sometimes feel intimidating. However, Kubu offers a truly intimate and one-of-a-kind experience that makes solo diners feel completely at ease. A special thanks to Febre, whose warmth and knowledge elevated the evening. His thoughtful explanations of each dish, along with the stories behind their Balinese origins, added another layer to the experience. The food is creative yet approachable, with several surprising flavor combinations that work beautifully. Combined with the stunning atmosphere and natural surroundings, the entire experience feels memorable from start to finish. I would highly recommend Kubu to anyone visiting Ubud. The food alone is worth the visit, and the setting is simply the cherry on top.

Had an amazing dinner here. Great food and excellent service. Cici is very attentive and I love the conversations that we had after each course. The main entrees are all excellent. The mango pie is a scene stealer as well. Will definitely go back here.
