I visited this waterfall recently and overall it was a really nice experience. The main waterfall itself is beautiful and peaceful, even though I didn’t end up taking many photos while I was there. What I liked most is that the area feels a bit more spread out and less crowded than expected. If you take some time to explore and keep walking past the main spot, you’ll eventually come across a cave, which was a really cool surprise and definitely made the visit more memorable. It’s a great place if you enjoy a bit of adventure and don’t mind wandering off the main path. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area.

If you’re looking for a waterfall escape after the rice terraces in Ubud, Ulu Petanu Waterfall is a must-visit. It’s a refreshing hidden gem that feels honest and untouched. Affordable Entry: Only 30,000 IDR, with local prices at the snack and drink stalls—no "tourist tax" or cheating here. The site features a small but stunning waterfall. From a short distance, it connects to another waterfall and a cave, which have affordable entrance fees, too. The spring water is potable. Moreover, there are fishes in pools of water that look nice. The waterfall area is shallow so it is also good for kids. On-site changing rooms make it easy to dry off after your dip. A serene, budget-friendly spot that offers a rare slice of "Old Bali." Don't forget your swimsuit!

Nice and not too crowded waterfall. Charming path/walk from the enterance, with religious sites along the path. Get a free water massage from the waterfall, if swimming abillities allow. Another photo view by swimming to a large rock with the waterfall as background. We enjoied it. Kidz also enjoyed feeding fishes 🐠 in the ponds close to the waterfall (10k for a bag of fish food) Family with 2 teen girls hade a great experience 😊 Continue a bit further on the path and walk the 150m cave (additional 10k/person)

Ulu Petanu Waterfall was a beautiful stop with a really scenic vibe. I liked that the water wasn’t crowded, so it felt easy to enjoy the swim without too much interruption. The little cave walk was a nice surprise, and the bridge made for a good photo spot. The café at the top had a pleasant view, and the changing area and snack stands were handy too.

Ulu Petanu Waterfall is a beautiful spot, but not as crowded or overhyped as some of the other waterfalls in Bali, which makes it a nice place to relax. The walk down to the waterfall is fairly short, around 100 meters, but be prepared for about 70 steep stairs at the beginning. The rest of the path is more manageable, though you still need to be a bit careful, especially if you’re traveling with kids or elderly family members. Once you reach the bottom, the waterfall itself is really stunning. The water flow is strong and the surrounding greenery adds to the peaceful vibe. It’s definitely worth taking a dip if you’re comfortable, as the water feels refreshing after the short climb down. One downside is the lack of proper changing facilities near the waterfall, which can be inconvenient if you plan to swim. Also, while the place is beautiful, it may not feel very “grand” compared to some of Bali’s more famous waterfalls. Overall, it’s a good, less crowded option if you’re looking for a calm and scenic spot. Worth a visit, but keep your expectations realistic.
