I was looking for a quiet place, far away from anything, with a great view. I got that. I paid for deluxe room, US $48.50 net, included breakfast, taxes, and service. The room is huge, very comfortable. Both room and balcony have awesome view of mountain and lake. The staff is uniformly friendly and helpful, anxious to satisfy your needs. I was allowed to take glasses and a chair from the DR to my room. They speak necessary English, but do not understand too much English when spoken to. The restaurant has the same spectacular view, and you can sit inside or outside on a balcony. The meals are extremely well-prepared, subtle seasonings and all. I ordered from the menu hours ahead of time, set my mealtime, and the ordered meal appeared on schedule. . . On the downside: 1. The dining room is full of flies from the lake. They are pesky. They need to be sprayed into oblivion, and I'm guessing the reason they are not is because of the Hindu respect for all life. No one seemed concerned about them. 2. The water was out when I arrived, and stayed out until mid-morning of the next day. I don't know whether that was a property problem or a community problem. 3. Wi-fi works reliably only in the restaurant, and there it works very well. It did work sporadically in my room. 4. Noisy traffic on the highway that passes by may bother some. 5. This location is very humid (though temperate). The room could use a de-humidifier; everything feels damp and dank after a while.

We chose this hotel as we end our 1 day tour in kintamani. Check in in the evening and was offered choice of coffee or tea as welcome drink. Lady boss was at the front desk and she's very friendly. We booked deluxe and superior room. Deluxe on higher floor means less walking down the stairs with ur luggage. Comes with private balcony with awesome mountain view and is great as there's no window, u need that balcony to air your room. For those who prefer cold, u can leave ur balcony door opened or it'll be slightly stuffy. Superior room are the same size as deluxe, but the entrance to room is the only door u can open to air your room! But it gives u direct access to garden area. Not much view here as ure clouded by trees. Overall, room is clean, with moulds on wall and some room smells but that didn't bother us. It's family run, not 4 star hotel. Tv signal inconsistent. Bring ur own toiletries as they did not provide sufficient. No international plug available so prepare own. We had supper in the hotel n it was good. Ordered fried fish to share it was so good we ordered 3. Breakfast starts only at 9, is simple n cooked to order accompanied by great view in the restaurant. In the early morning, we walked to the main road and took a local transport 'angkutan' to nearby local market for only RP3-5k per person, 20mins away. Passed by a beautiful temple as well. Market start closing at 10 so be as early as possible, 7am best! Service is good n friendly. Set ur expectations low, u'll be able to enjoy ur stay here like we do.

This hotel was the worst experience in the whole trip. Service costumer is allright, polite and smiling. In our case we found the room dirty. We could see nobody came in for a long time to clean and prepare the room for a new clients. Toilet not clean and the window was making noisy for the windy but then they fixed it with some plastic bag. The landscape is amazing in front of the volcano but also too much windy, in the room as well, so cold!! Breakfast nothing special.. rice, noddles, fried banana, fresh juice (you have to pay). In our experience and opinion this hotel was the expensive one and the worst bedroom for sleep well.

The Windu Sara hotel (nowadays it's called Catur Dewi hotel) lies next to the beautiful Mount Batur and offers travelers an awesome view. So far the positives. Our three night stay was in fact a sheer horror. An enumeration: our room was located next to the noisy drivers canteen, so sleeping was no longer possible from 6 o'clock in the morning. We mostly had no hot water and sometimes no water at all. Our beddings were full of questionable spots and we always had to make the bed ourselves. We had no towels and no toilet paper (and after several requests we still had none). The breakfast was available from 9:30 on (only when requested the day before) and consisted out of the remnants of the evening buffet. Those buffets weren't tasty at all, the food was barely warm and continuously infested with flies (because of the lake nearby). The staff was pushy and condescending, and they only spoke English when it suited themselves. Finally, staying at Windu Sara costs the same as staying at a proper hotel. In short: a wise traveler avoids this 'hotel'.

the good thing is can say about the place is that the owner is really friendly, and the view is breath taking. Sadly the cons by far outweigh the pros. Numerous flies in the room and hallway. No carpeting makes walking barefoot a torture. Bathroom floor always wet and smell unpleasant. Inadequate noise proofing (i can clearly hear the couple next room, quite unpleasant). Breakfast is served 9 am, and wouldn't you know it they prioritize the foreign tourist over the local ones even though I've waited almost 1 hour for a plate of barely palatable fried rice.
