Update: We actually came back again tonight because I couldn’t stop thinking about the food! I ordered the Miso Ramen for the second night in a row—it is that good. 🤤 Original Review: We had an incredible dinner at Izakaya Niikawa (located within Made’s Warung). The Miso Ramen, gyoza, and chicken karaage were the best I’ve ever had. The chicken was perfectly crispy, and the side dishes of chili oil and soy sauce were the perfect finishing touches. What really made the night was the service. Our waiter, Joni, was fantastic—he had a great mix of English, Japanese, and Balinese, which made for such a fun and welcoming atmosphere. We sat across the courtyard near the stage, and it was great to see the chefs' pride in their work. Knowing the meal was prepared from scratch by such a dedicated team made it even better—I had to give them a double thumbs up and a round of applause from across the way. They truly deserved it! Highly recommend stopping by if you are in Seminyak.
View on GoogleExcellent food and service, very well priced for food quality and service. Small restaurant so booking may be required in busy periods.
View on GoogleAttentive service crew and chefs make the dining experience pleasant and enjoyable. Ambience of the restaurant is cozy and I like the island kitchen top that allows you to watch the chef cooking. Food wise was only 4 stars to me as I expected more grilled items. The taste was nice but menu was limited. I ordered grilled chicken gizzard but it was cooked in teppanyaki style and torched to finish off. Taste was ok but it missed out the depth and smoky flavours. Also ordered the chicken cartilage and it was deep fried like tempura style but they gave us the Tonkatsu sauce to go with the cartilage and to me, the sauce and dish do not match. Should have provided proper tempura sauce instead. The seafood okonomiyaki was nice but could have been cooked a bit longer in my opinion to get the inside warmer and outside a bit more crispy. Chicken wings in Korean sesame sauce was ok but again could have deep fried a little longer to get it even more crispy. Could have drenched a bit more sauce on the wings too. I was scraping off the plate to get more of it. So most of the items just needed to be cooked abit longer to get the full flavour. But if you are craving for Japanese food in Bali, it's still one of the better joints to patronise.
View on GoogleThis is a must if you love authentic Japanese. The visual menu doesn't do the food justice. We tried the Okonomiyaki, gyōza, sashimi, spicy tuna rolls and agedashi tofu. All amazing and would recommend. Everything is prepared / cooked in front of you. Hope to come back here next visit. Thank you for a delicious feed Niikawa Izakaya!
View on GoogleFood was okay (not bad but also not special or anything), sofa seats can be unpleasant since the table is also low, most waiters were outside when I was there so I had to wait to make eye contact with them. Price-wise, definitely not expensive, you also can get free refills apparently.
