An absolutely lovely small local eatery in the heart of Legian, staff are friendly. The establishment will only take CASH ONLY so be aware, but other than that there is not one negative thing to say about this place. Oh perhaps if your allergic to cats be wary, they do roam around the restaurant a lot but they are friendly - I love the baby kittens
View on GoogleReview: Warung Kampung Indonesian Food — Kuta, Bali Overall Rating: 5/5 (A Charming Hidden Gem for Authentic Local Flavors) If you are looking to escape the crowded tourist strips of Kuta and find a truly authentic meal, Warung Kampung is a must-visit. Tucked away in a quiet side alley, this charming, open-air eatery offers a peaceful retreat and some of the best local food we’ve had on the island. The Atmosphere: Quiet, Open-Air Charm The setting is simple yet wonderful. Being located in an alleyway keeps the noise of Kuta at bay, and the open-air design allows for a nice breeze while you eat. It feels like a "secret" spot that mostly locals and savvy travelers know about, which adds to the overall experience. The Food: Fresh, Inexpensive, and Delicious We ordered a spread of traditional dishes, and every single one was a hit: Nasi Goreng with Chicken: A staple done to perfection. It was savory, well-seasoned, and exactly what you want from a classic Indonesian fried rice. Sea Spinach (Kangkung) with Chicken: This was a standout side dish. The greens were fresh and vibrant, sautéed with tender chicken in a flavorful sauce. Chili Shrimp: For those who like a bit of a kick, the shrimp were excellent—perfectly cooked and tossed in a spicy, aromatic chili base. Fresh Grilled Fish: The highlight of the meal. The fish was clearly fresh, grilled with local spices that brought out its natural sweetness. It’s a must-order if you visit. Value and Service One of the best parts about Warung Kampung is that it is incredibly inexpensive. You get a high-quality, multicourse meal for a fraction of the price of the larger beachfront restaurants. The service was warm and welcoming, adding to the "home-cooked" feel of the place. Verdict: Warung Kampung is the definition of a great local warung. For delicious, authentic Indonesian food at an unbeatable price, it is highly recommended. It’s the perfect place to slow down and enjoy the real flavors of Bali.
View on GoogleThe food here is incredible. Visited twice during our Bali stay. So cheap. So fresh. So delicious. I’m dreaming about another Nasi Goreng now that I’m back home.
View on GoogleLiterally away from the main drag. You can find this little jewel where locals actually eat. Don't expect enormous sizes, pretentious presentation, or the everlasting rock'n roll jukebox. Do expect though to have the chance to look into the kitchen, see the wok on the fire and the fresh ingredients going in. You know things are fresh because sometimes they're not there. On our night the place was out of rice! The menu is short and in English.
View on GoogleWe had dinner here and ordered the nasi goreng with a fried egg on top. It was generous in size and full of flavour. The rice had that lovely caramelised finish you want, with a good balance of savoury and sweet, and the egg was cooked perfectly with crispy edges It felt like an honest, no-frills local dish done well rather than a dressed-up tourist version. Simple, satisfying and exactly what you want when you’re in Bali. Would happily order it again.
