Explores the Balinese belief in food as medicine, grounding its plant-based menu in ceremonial traditions and ancestral wisdom. The menu moves in pair with the Desa’s wellness programme, sourcing from the land's jungle pantry to nourish the community.

Tanaman is not only a haven for vegetarians, vegans, and plant-based eaters in Seminyak — it is a place where food is made and served with deep intention. Every dish tastes incredible while also telling a story about indigenous Balinese foodways, local ingredients, sustainability, culture, and care for the land. I first visited for breakfast and was immediately struck by how healthy, nourishing, vibrant, and delightfully fresh everything felt. I enjoyed the experience so much that I returned later for their dinner experience — and it was truly inspiring and unforgettable. The dinner was beautifully narrated by the chef and staff, who invited guests into their lives, traditions, and relationship to the land through the food they prepared. Every course was thoughtful, delicious, and deeply satisfying. Ayu, who served me at breakfast, was incredibly kind and sweet, and in the evening I had the pleasure of dining in the company of Yunita, who was wonderfully generous and warm. Every member of the staff made me feel welcomed and cared for. You can genuinely taste the talent, stewardship, creativity, and love they pour into honoring Bali’s abundance. This is honestly one of the best restaurants I’ve ever been to — not only for the quality of the food, but for their dedication to craft, heritage, sustainability, atmosphere, and hospitality. Tanaman feels truly unique and deeply inspiring. I will absolutely be returning many more times to come!

We had an early dinner on a Friday and it was an amazing experience. The staff was so nice and they have very good knowledge about the menu and each ingredient which was impressive. The food was nice, especially the silken tofu, but would be better if we could have more non spicy options. Highly recommend the fried with banana ketchup which tastes very unique. We came back for breakfast on the following Sunday and luckily, we were able to bring a bag of banana ketchup back home! Thanks Rasti for the arrangement and hospitality. BTW, the congee for favourite is my favourite ;)

This vegetarian restaurant from Desa Potato Head is amazing. From the friendly service of the staff, to the mouthwatering cuisine, we have enjoyed our dinner here very much. We love how the food is carefully and creatively prepared by locally sourced ingredients. The food is flavourful and delicate. My personal favourite is surprisingly the tamarind candy which comes with the tamarind ginger tea 😂😂😂 the mushroom skewers are great too. A very lovely restaurant with a cosy and romantic atmosphere. We would love to come again!!

Tanaman was our highlight meal in Seminyak. Dined 15 October for dinner. Firstly - the decor. I’m not one too care too much about how the restaurant looks but it is warm and inviting. Timber is used heavily and it is simply incredible. The service we recieved from Unita was extraordinary. She was friendly and warm, explaining each and every dish to us and attending to any needs promptly. She ensured all our dishes were vegan (as the restaurant does use egg and milk for some select dishes). The meals themselves - delicious. We had the mushroom satay, cakwe and Tempe Sando, as well as rice pudding and caco nib for dessert. The cakwe was my favourite, a unique combination of flavours, followed closely by the satay. Mocktails were great too! The restaurant was a little quieter, with only a handful of other diners. This made it nice and peaceful, Altho surprising given what a gem this place is. Price was reasonable given the exceptional quality (1,000,000 for two diners).

Stunning, delicious, interesting and fun Yunita was my server for the night and she did an amazing job at talking me through each dish. She helped me learn so much about Balinese/Indonesian culture, and helped me feel excited for the next dish. The food is definitely an experience and I’m still surprised it’s not getting booked out every night. (Finally not rabbit food labeled as vegan, they actually have beautiful, playful flavours) Definitely an underrated gem. The vibes and decor is immaculate also! This was a great break from the westernised over-growing “culture” in Bali and I feel satisfied having a genuine moment at Tanaman. Pricing makes this fine dining experience accessible btw!
