I do enjoyed the Chef’s menu at Lulu Bistro. It’s not always easy to find a proper fine dining tasting menu in Canggu for solo diner, so I thought this was a wonderful concept. The portion sizes were generous enough to leave me satisfied, and the chef’s creativity came through in many of the dishes. The only reason I’m giving 4 stars instead of 5 is that the menu leaned heavily towards rich, intense flavours throughout. While each dish was enjoyable on its own, having several rich courses in a row became a little overwhelming for my palate. I personally think introducing one or two lighter, fresher seafood courses in between would create even better balance and make the overall journey more enjoyable. That said, I completely understand this reflects the restaurant’s more traditional French style, so it’s ultimately a matter of personal preference rather than a criticism. Overall, it’s a lovely experience, especially for solo diners looking for a thoughtfully curated tasting menu in Canggu.

Lulu Bistrot missed the mark for us. It’s nothing special. We ordered the scallop entree, tarte tartin with caramelised onion & truffle and the roast chicken. The mains were at the table literally 2 minutes after the entree plates were removed. The place is pitch black. We had to turn our phone torch on to see what we were eating. Also found the service to be slightly aloof rather than welcoming. It is a great looking restaurant but we found ourselves mid-meal googling the Italian restaurant opposite and wishing we’d booked there instead.

The food was okay — personally, I think it’s a little overrated for the price range. The beef steak was delicious though and definitely the highlight of the meal. As for the other dishes, they tasted pretty average considering the pricing. Overall, not bad, but I expected more from the hype.

Almost perfect, everything went well until when we wanted to order cheese platter and desserts they said the kitchen was closed. No one told us the kitchen was closing much earlier than the closing time! So i didn’t get to end my meal with happy ending. Bone in steak was good but the accompaniment chips and salad were too little for 2-3 persons’ portions. Sad. 👹

Really enjoyed dinner at Lulu Bistrot! The food was delicious, the service was excellent, and the place has a cozy and welcoming atmosphere. It’s a great spot for dinner and a good conversation. Definitely would come back!
