Waatu was one of the highlights of our time in Uluwatu. The restaurant has a beautiful atmosphere, incredible food, and stunning attention to detail in every dish. Everything we ordered was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented, making for a truly memorable dining experience. What made the evening especially exceptional was the service. Parwata and Widia took such great care of us from start to finish. They were warm, attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely made us feel welcome. Their recommendations were excellent, and their hospitality elevated an already fantastic meal into something truly special. It's rare to find a restaurant that excels in both food and service, but Waatu absolutely delivers on both. We left impressed and can't wait to return the next time we're in Bali. Highly recommended

To start off with, the service was absolute fantastic. We had Ade for our server and he was highly attentive and addressed us by names, making the experience highly personable. The food was absolutely delicious, everything having been cooked over flame. We tried all of the yakitori and they were amazing that we ordered even more! The drinks were fantastic, and the atmosphere was lovely. Highly recommend if you’d like a fine dining experience in Uluwatu. It was approximately $250 AUD for the both of us.

One of the best dinners we had in Bali, and the perfect spot for a date night. Waatu sits atop the cliffs at The Ungasan in Uluwatu, the work of Australian chef James Viles. The whole kitchen runs on coals. No gas, no electricity, just open flame and smoke doing the heavy lifting, and you can taste it in everything. Start with the yakitori, the heart of the menu. We worked through a few including the chicken, prawn, wagyu and scallops, and every skewer was beautifully cooked and full of smoky, charred flavour. From there we shared the Australian wagyu flank steak, done medium rare, with a baked potato on the side. It's one of the better steaks you'll find on the island and it lives up to the reputation. The bean salad alongside it was a genuine standout, fresh and sharp and the perfect foil to all that fire and meat. We finished with the chocolate sorbet, a clean way to end a rich meal. The cocktails deserve their own mention. The espresso martini and old fashioned were both spot on, and worth the trip on their own. We were celebrating a birthday, and the team surprised us with a gift of chocolate, a lovely touch and the sort of thoughtful service that sets a place apart. Service was exceptional all night, attentive without hovering. Rugged and refined at the same time, relaxed enough for a casual feast but polished enough for a special occasion. If you want a memorable dinner in Bali, book ahead and arrive hungry.

We tried all the recommended restaurants in Uluwatu, and it’s easy to say that this is the best one. From the impeccable service by Ade—who made sure we had the best dining experience—to the thoughtful gesture of replacing my cocktail because he felt it wouldn’t taste the same after sitting too long (I was too busy enjoying the food and completely forgot about my drink—yes, the food is that good!!!), everything was exceptional. Every dish was executed perfectly, and we truly have nothing negative to say. As for the price, we didn’t mind paying at all. Dining here isn’t just about having a meal—it’s an experience.
