Amazing venue with incredible staff! I attended the Balinese cooking class and it was definitely one of the highlights of my trip. Chef Stephen and Eka were so welcoming, knowledgeable and genuinely caring. They made the whole experience so much fun, and the food was amazing! They both deserve a special mention for all their hard work and effort. Two beautiful people who made the experience even more special. Highly recommend, and I hope to be back soon!
View on GoogleFirst off the staff is amazing and the food is good. The 3 stars is mainly for the desserts. We stayed at Grun last year and the mango sticky rice was delicious! This year when we ordered it didn’t even have fresh mango and the sticky rice was mushy. Instead of traditional mango sticky rice with sliced fresh mango on top, it had a mango sauce/puree on top with just a few cubes of mango that didn’t taste like fresh mango but maybe it’s because it was soaked in the weird mango sauce. I’m just not sure why regular fresh mango wouldn’t be used here, there is so much delicious fresh mango across Indonesia and I’ve never had a mango sticky rice made without fresh mango. I will include pictures to show the differences from last year to this year. Also the fries were very different from last year and not as good but that’s ok. I’m not trying to leave a rude or negative review, I absolutely LOVE Grun and will continue to be back every year. I just think the food could use a little, very simple, upgrade. I follow the Instagram and see that they had “revamped” the restaurant so just wanted to note that maybe some of the foods have now been too reworked and should have just remained simple. Also the Dadar Gulang was delicious but served with a superrrrr sour compote which felt pretty random to serve with dadar gulang, and we love sour but it made it hard to eat it was so sour. But overall we love Grun so much and the staff is amazing as always.
View on GoogleLa Cima Bali is definitely a place worth visiting. The food was excellent — fresh, well-presented, and full of flavor. You can tell there’s real attention to quality in every dish. What really makes this place stand out is the view. Absolutely stunning, especially around sunset. It creates a very relaxing and enjoyable atmosphere, perfect for a long lunch or a chilled evening.
View on GoogleIf I could give this cooking course at Grun Bali 10 stars, I would! From the moment we arrived, everything was so thoughtfully organised. The beautiful garden setting was peaceful and welcoming, and each of us had our own individual cooking station fully prepared, making the whole experience feel very special. A huge thank you to Chef Steven and Putu, who were fantastic hosts. They were friendly, knowledgeable and made the class fun and easy to follow, sharing lots of information about traditional Balinese cooking along the way. We started by preparing an authentic Balinese spice paste from scratch before cooking our own individual fish dishes. For dessert, we made the most delicious coconut pandan crepes, which were every bit as enjoyable to make as they were to eat! There were so many thoughtful touches throughout the experience. After the cooking was finished we were able to sit back, relax and enjoy a leisurely lunch together, tasting all the dishes we’d created and were treated to complimentary wine, rice, delicious sambal and crackers to sample alongside. To top it all off, we were given a takeaway box for any leftovers, along with a souvenir apron and recipe menu cards so we can recreate everything at home. This was one of the highlights of our time in Bali and an experience we’d recommend to anyone. Thank you, Chef Steven and Putu, for such a memorable day!
View on GoogleI came here for the day pass which allows you to use the pool & sun lounger and required a minimum spend. So relaxing and peaceful. The pool is beautiful with amazing views. Prices are high but it is a high-end resort and that is expected. Coffee is fantastic here. I also recommend the cauliflower wings. Losing one star as there is a lot of ants around the decking area and crawling around. I unfortunately left my shorts on the ground beside my lounger and when I put them on I got 15-20 bites all over my legs and thighs. It was so painful and the bites got very large and inflamed. Not really the resorts fault but maybe they can look into a solution to all the ants, this would be very painful to happen to a child.
