This place was awful and I do not recommend it. Has potential once renovations are done and it’s taken care of properly. I originally checked into a mould smelling room with a dirty and wet toilet seat and a tv that was leaning on a table with nothing holding it. I immediately notified trip requesting a refund and room change because of the late hour and I did not receive assistance until 2+ hours later at 1:30am-2:00am. My room was changed to another unsuitable room that was a downgrade (same room type but no views, a chemical smell masking the mould that gave me a headache and less privacy because the room window was facing the entrance instead of nature like I had booked and there was renovations happening that were also loud.) I was exhausted and was unable to change hotels. I stayed one night. Next morning without even having the room 8 hours, I woke up to room service being in my room “cleaning” while I was sleeping!! (cleaning what, I have no idea because I hadn’t even had a chance to use anything.) this was a HUGE invasion of privacy and I felt violated/disturbed. What room service enters rooms at 9:00!? I’ve stayed in many hotels and room service is always in the afternoon. No one advised me of this prior to it happening or I would have told them not to come (which is obvious because I didn’t even have the room 8 hours yet). The hotel did not care when I raised the issues and only offered me a refund for my second booked night. 0 compensation or care for my horrible experience which only made the entire thing worse. I wasted hours of my time trying to seek a fair resolution and also had my business meetings and work flow completely ruined and disrupted due to this. Checked out as soon as I was able to next day even though I wasn’t in a position to do that. Do not recommend. They only care about money, not the customer. Service and environment were horrible. Only cool thing is the location of you like nature and that it has potential if they were to actually care and the renovations go well.

Fantastic restaurant, with wonderful food, catered for our big party of 65 people in our own private room - they let us decorate it before hand, service was brilliant - we had a lovely dimsum there in the morning before the party started as well. So good. All the guests happy. Beautiful surroundings, close the the Baiyun mountain so with a short taxi ride were able to combine the lunch party, with an afternoon Cable Car trip up the mountain and super walk down.

We were there in guangzhou for canton fair. The hotel is best located for any Indian traveler. It is next to lake and the environment is very peaceful. Within few meters you can see SHARMA JI, the best Indian veg restaurant. Other few indian restaurants are there but SHARMA JI is the best. You can find fruits, ATM and any other stuff in close vicinity. The ideal place to stay and the hotel staff is also good. The only problem is they don't have any room service and any restaurant. Otherwise a very good and ideal place to stay.

I went to China for business during the big business fairs/expos. The Grand Villa Hotel was cheap compared to all the other hotels. Overall it’s alright, but I wouldn't stay here unless you have no choice. I don't know if it’s because they are in the wooded area, but I got nasty huge bug bites on both of my legs. Though whenever I travel to Asia I always get some bug bites, but this was the worse I ever got. The size of the room is a pretty decent size. The room I stayed at has 2 queen size beds. They have internet connection which I was kind of surprised about considering the condition of the hotel. The internet wasn't reliable though. My dad whom I was traveling with really needed the internet so we ended up switching our rooms during half way of our stay. When we were out of the hotel during the day we called to find out if the internet was fixed, which they claimed it was. When we asked them if they used a laptop to make sure that the internet was working they said they didn't. We were questioning how they were sure they knew it was working. We thought maybe they didn't understand what we were talking about so we had someone who spoke Cantonese to speak to them thinking they would understand what we were talking about and how we really needed the internet. They still didn't understand so in the end we just switched rooms. The bathroom in the hotel was a decent size. The shower was pretty crappy. They don't really have a built in shower. It’s this kind of modern looking free standing shower. It looked nice and something Japanese, but in one room when you had the shower head pointing one way it would leak water to the bathroom floor. Dining was not great. I'm not sure how it is normally, but when I stayed during the fair, we got special dining vouchers, some what like the free continental breakfast in the states. This was worse than they continental breakfast in the states. I would have been happy with some muffins. You didn't really have much to choose from. There was some English/US breakfast and 2 Chinese breakfasts. One Chinese breakfast was rice porridge and some meat thing which I don't remember. I think another Chinese breakfast was dim-sum. English breakfast was some fried egg, some bread, & some warm milk. It’s nice that we got the free breakfast, but I rather have paid for a nicer breakfast.||The language barrier was my biggest grip. For my dad and me it was ok since we spoke Chinese. What I felt sorry for were the many foreigners that were staying in this hotel. I saw this one guy get frustrated that they couldn't figure out what he wanted for breakfast. There was one day where the waitress had to ask my dad to translate. I mean I know this is cheap hotel, but to not even understand basic English. I mean if we speak the language and they can't even understand us, it must be worse for people who don't speak Chinese. Their brochure has 4 stars which I don't know where they got. Only good thing I could say is that since this hotel is quite since in the woods behind a big lake. Other than that I don't recommend this hotel.
