Good to brings kids. Advance ticket purchase is a must. Location is very strategic, outside museum you can take pictures with background of canton tower, and walking distance to K11 malls through mall of the world. Good to spend for 3-4 hours with your family.
View on GoogleThe muzium is huge, spacious and clean. Good place to view local history. Entrance is free but need to register before enter.
View on GoogleThe Guangzhou Museum started in 1959 and moved to its huge new building in New Town in 2010. It had a fairly eclectic collection, including impressive carvings. And far less impressive taxidermy. My favourites were the atmospheric ocean and dinosaur areas. And the temporary Lacquerware exhibition. Free entry but must organise tickets online in advance, which can be done through the WeChat app
View on GoogleMuseum which showcases the history of Guangdong, in where you can see art, sculptures, artifacts, boats, architecture and much more. And while I was there they also had a special exhibition on Iranian culture and art. Free entry but you have to apply for the tickets in advance as it can get quite busy. Big museum with many floors - easy to explore and relaxing when taking in all the history and culture. Well spaced out. I liked the pottery exhibition the best, found it quite interesting and beautiful to see some of the designs but if I am to be honest I found the museum, as a whole, a but underwhelming. Its good but not quite brilliant. A tad bit boring in places truth be told. Could have emphasized more of the characters and stories behind the history. There are other museums and galleries in Guangdong that I much preferred. Worth a look for sure, but it just didn't float my boat, as they say! (dinosaur and natural history part was closed on the day we were there - which was a pity)
View on GoogleWow, I gotta say my trip to Guangdong Museum was one of those “ohh interesting nha” kinda experience 😆 First thing first – this place is huuuge, like really big building with many floors and halls to walk around. Entry is FREE, but you need to register ticket before coming in (quite easy, no stress). Inside vibe is super chill, quiet, not too noisy. You can walk slow, take photo, read info, or just enjoy the space. Museum shows a lot of things: history of Guangdong province, ancient artifacts, ceramics, Lingnan culture, old furniture, fossils, nature stuffs… basically everything from past to present. If you really want to see all, need at least 2–3 hours, maybe more. I walked until tired legs but still didn’t finish all sections 😅 Some exhibitions are really impressive, especially ceramics and traditional art. Lighting and layout look modern, very “wow” when take photo. But honestly, one downside is English explanation is not everywhere. Many boards are Chinese only, so if you don’t read Mandarin, sometimes you just look and guess thôi. Still ok, but could be better. Building design is also very nice. From outside, it looks like a giant treasure box. Inside layout is clear, not confusing, easy to follow direction. Air-con strong, clean toilet, staff friendly, and there are benches to sit and rest when tired. Overall, I think Guangdong Museum is totally worth visiting, especially if you like culture, history, and want a chill activity in Guangzhou. Free ticket, big space, many things to see – no reason to skip. Highly recommend for first-time visitors. 👍
