We arranged a surprise early birthday celebration for my brother during our trip to Guangzhou. We chose this restaurant because of its Michelin recognition and excellent Google reviews, so we came with high expectations. We tried their signature Crispy Char Siew and Pineapple Bun. To be honest, they didn't quite live up to the hype for us. The Crispy Char Siew was crispy and well prepared, but a little too sweet for our taste, and it didn't have the "melt-in-your-mouth" texture we were expecting. The Pineapple Bun looked impressive, but the filling was quite little, leaving the centre rather empty when we cut it open. The other dishes were average considering the price. It may simply be that the flavours are more suited to local tastes than ours. We had also brought a birthday cake and asked the waitress to keep it in the refrigerator. Towards the end of dinner, I quietly informed one of the waiters to bring out the cake after clearing the table. To our surprise, he announced it in front of everyone, including my brother that he would bring out the cake after clearing the table! Even more surprisingly, he brought out the entire cake box instead of presenting the cake. We later spoke with him, and he explained that, in their local culture, many guests prefer to celebrate quietly without drawing attention, so they usually return the cake in its box unless the customer requests otherwise. They are happy to follow specific instructions if informed in advance. Overall, it was an interesting cultural experience. While the food wasn't quite to our taste despite our high expectations, we appreciated learning about the local dining customs. It was a memorable experience and a good reminder that dining traditions can vary from country to country.
View on Google3Sep2026 First time coming here in Guangzhou. We sat on the outside. It was not a very good idea. It was near the road side so it was very noisy. You know the drivers love to horn in China. Secondly, people smoke outside so you can smell the smoke. If you want to eat here, wait and get a seat inside😊The food is expensive. Both of us spent 329¥ which is equivalent to $60 plus sing dollars. The soup was not too good. The char siu had 50% of fats. The chicken with mushroom was not good at all. The chicken was very elastic and we found it hard to chew. The vegetables was the only one dish which can be considered average. Then the waiting time for the food was long. We seemed to see others being served while we waited. When we wanted to order the chicken, we were told that it would take half an hour. When we asked about the chicken wings, the waiter said 25 minutes!😿I think we will never come here again after this experience 😕😕😕😕😕😕
View on GoogleVisited in nov 2025 to have dinner here and the black char siew was really fantastic! The dessert mochi with salted egg filling was also pretty unique. We enjoyed all the dishes we ordered and the service was good too. The ambiance of the restaurant is also great! Would definitely visit again if I come to guangzhou again.
View on GoogleGreat Chineses tu restaurant with food that westerns appreciate. Still have waiters taking orders, refilling the tea, bringing bill to the table and all this with a delicious Cantonese food and a very efficient service. Always crowded so usually you have to wait a bit at the door but it's worth the wait.
View on GoogleThe food was excellent and I truly enjoyed the meal with one exception. The individual in black who processed my payment expressed dissatisfaction when I requested to split the bill. Furthermore, I was not provided with a receipt until I specifically asked for one. Upon receiving the receipt, the review section was deliberately removed.
