Nylon Club 锦纶会馆 is a true marvel, steeped in rich history and cultural significance. Dating back to the year 1723, during the reign of Emperor Yongzheng in the Qing Dynasty, this establishment holds a special place in the heart of Guangzhou as it belongs to the prestigious Guangzhou Silk Weaving Association. Upon stepping through its doors, visitors are transported back in time to an era of intricate silk weaving and traditional craftsmanship. The intricate architectural details and elegant design elements serve as a testament to the artistry of the past, preserving the essence of centuries-old traditions. As I explored the halls of Nylon Club, I was captivated by the stories that seemed to whisper through the walls, painting a vivid picture of ancient Guangzhou and the mastery of silk production. The attention to detail in every corner of the establishment reflects a deep reverence for history and a commitment to preserving the cultural heritage of the region.
View on GoogleNylon Guild Hall, also known as Nylon Hall, is now located on the west side of the north exit of Kangwang Road Tunnel, Kangwang South Road, Liwan District, Guangzhou, China. It was originally on Xilai New Street, Xiajiu Road, and is a Qing Dynasty ancestral hall-style building. In 1997, it was listed as the fifth batch of municipal cultural relics protection units by Guangzhou. The Nylon Guild Hall was built in the first year of the Yongzheng reign of the Qing Dynasty (1723) and rebuilt in the 24th year of the Daoguang reign (1844). The guild hall faces south, covers an area of 692 square meters, and is a three-entry brick-wood structure ancestral hall-style building. Its 'ear-pot' house appearance has strong Lingnan architectural characteristics. The hall retains many wood carvings, brick carvings, pottery sculptures, stone inscriptions, etc. The Nylon Guild Hall was originally the Guangzhou Silk Weaving Industry Shareholders' Association. After 1949, it was changed into a residential house. Its building structure remains basically intact, becoming the only modern professional guild hall preserved in Guangzhou. The hall completely retains 21 historical stone inscriptions, which are important empirical evidence for studying the budding of capitalism and the development of commerce and trade in Guangzhou in the Qing Dynasty.
