Guangdong Foreign Affairs Museum (广东外事博物馆) is a historical landmark located on Shamian Island (沙面岛). Built in 1890, the building originally served as the French Consulate (法国领事馆) in Guangzhou. The architecture features a classic Baroque style with a distinctive pale yellow exterior and European-style columns. We added this to our urban walking route, but we didn't get to visit inside as it wasn't open when we were there. Even with the doors closed, the exterior is well-maintained and still nice to look at from the street. From what others have mentioned, the inside has century-old wooden floors and displays various diplomatic gifts (外交礼物), though the exhibition space is quite small. If you want to see the interior, make sure to check their current schedule or booking requirements first since walk-ins aren't always guaranteed.

View on GoogleThe exhibits themselves are not very attractive. However, because they are diplomatic gifts from other countries, you can also find many interesting collections. Moreover, there are not many things to see on this island, so if you come, you can go in and walk around if the time is right, it will be quick. And I like the building itself even more, it preserves the look of the colonial era.
