A former Michelin bib gourmand continue to draw crowds. If you are prepared to wait for 30 mins or more you will be rewarded with varieties of sumptuous ‘cheong fun’. Unfortunately the porridge is meh only.No frills, shared tables, simple comfort food and self service.

If you’re in Guangzhou and it’s chilly like now, look for a warming meal with Yuan Ji right by the corner of this old part of town. Freshly made fillings steamed in shrouded rice sheets must be eaten right off the steamer if you want the clean, silky feel of the rolls sliding seductively in your mouth and down your throat; wait a minute too long and it begins to clump. Or choose from among the variety of porridge ingredients for another hearty option. Servings are ample, so don’t let the size of the bowl fool you. Honest, simple and direct, the food is exactly what they claim on the menu. Prices are reasonable and the outdoor ambience is spot on. When you’re done, take a walk out to one of the main roads nearby, sampling the shops and old architecture along the way.

Had to come try, for the price and quality definitely worth eating. Not sure if Michelin guide worthy food, but experience was fun as where I come from you don't get this ambience. Porridge was tasty and lots of ingredients, maybe some may find a little watery, rice rolls sauce is not too sweet or salty. Ordering and collecting your food may be a challenge for some...had to watch and learn 😅

One of the nicest and most authentic local chee cheong fun around — smooth, freshly made rice rolls that are really worth the trip. Came here the third time. Be aware: since it’s a hawker-stall setup, expect minimal frills — focus is on the food.

If you are looking for a place to "blow you away" this is probably it. I was blown away the first time I ate here many times ago, and I'm confident to say this is the best Chang Fen and congee you will ever eat in China. And if this is the best in Guangzhou, then it is the best in the world. So yes, for like a price of 15 RMB, you can eat the best Chang Fen in the world at this place. I'm envious of the locals living around there and just eating here for breakfast like it's just a normal Thursday morning. There is normally no wait for the table because people eat fast and leave, but you will need to wait a bit after ordering your Chang Fen. You order at the cashier up front, the guy will place your order with the Chang Fen guys, and you will need to come back and get it later. If you order congee, he will give you another receipt and you walk to the back of the restaurant to give your paper to the congee guy, and he will make it. There is no aircon or anything so it gets hot in the summer. It is considered a street stall so don't expect great service or comfortable seating. Anyways, I recommend this place to everybody who want to taste the best Chang Fen in the world. It's actually worth it to plan a trip to Guangzhou to eat here. Some reviews here are saying the cashier guy isn't nice, but honestly he just doesn't like people to just stand there, not knowing what they want, and not knowing what they want, holding up the line. If you can't speak Chinese, you can try using google translate to scan the menu and pick what you want. After that, take a photo of the menu, circle it, save the photo, and show it the cashier when it is your turn. Use hand gestures, show him how many you want, 1,2,3 etc., scan and pay, then it's done.
