Spacious and clean rooms. Only the pillows are not that comfortable. Great location where the SYSU pier for cruise is right in front of the hotel and the Guangzhou tower can be seen too. Breakfast spread not bad.

Great location, the hotel is kind of old & used and lack of mnt at many places. Very friendly staff and super helpful & supportive and it's nice to be the option for adults other than family trip.

For those who come to Canton for the first time, I would NOT recommend this hotel.For those who have been to Canton several times, you could give it a try, but with the following in mind: (1) Given that Canton is an international city, some front-desk staffs at this hotel are not that international - even worse than those in third- or fourth tier cities in China.(2) Given that SYSU is a good university in the regions, some front-desk staffs are not that well-educated, well-trained, and well-mannered, e.g. Leung.(3) There is a tunnel to the north-east side of the hotel, and windows are not sound-proof, so it is quite noisy in rooms facing east and north-west side.(4) We need to get in and out from the north side of the campus, which has a narrow road. As such, there is a bit traffic during peak hours and over the weekends.

Our stay at the Sun Yat-sen University Kaifeng Hotel in Guangzhou was enjoyable—until checkout.As I stood at the front desk, I noticed two receptionists engrossed in conversation, completely ignoring me. Then, a man walked up and cut in front of me, and one of the receptionists immediately assisted him without hesitation. Frustrated, I had no choice but to “rudely” step forward and insist on checking out.After completing the process, I walked away from the front desk, unaware that someone’s spilled water bottle had left the floor wet. The moment I stepped on the slick spot, I lost my balance and nearly fell. My heart pounded in shock. Just then, a cleaning lady approached and casually mentioned that she was about to clean it. But why wasn’t there a warning sign?Meanwhile, the hotel staff simply stood by, watching without taking any action. Their indifference and lack of professionalism were truly disappointing.Oh a four stars hotel !!

Great location for visiting SYS university. Clean spacious and great Chinese breakfast. Nice spa downstairs too
